Glenys Hughes

A TRIBUTE TO GLENYS HUGHES

Everyone at Freshfields would like to pay tribute to Glenys, who sadly passed away recently.

Glenys was a lifelong supporter of our work at Freshfields and shared our mission to transform the lives of abused, abandoned and unwanted animals. Glenys and her family adopted several animals from us over the years from Freshfields’ Wales Centre. At her memorial service, her friends and family referred to Glenys as a force of nature. She was a resolute and determined advocate for the vulnerable, from her years as a French teacher in Berkshire, to her support for over 30 charities, including education and development for young people all over the world.

Glenys adored animals, and her kindness and compassion has helped us to be there for the animals who have nowhere else to turn. She spoke about Alfie (pictured) with such affection. He was the last dog to be adopted by Glenys, and she treasured her time with this special dog. Glenys adopted numerous dogs and cats over the years and gave them the love and affection they truly deserved. For the last 12 years, Glenys and her husband Ian adopted older dogs who had been overlooked for adoption, giving them a life of love in their later years.

Glenys’ dedication to animal welfare lasted a lifetime, and her legacy lives on in the animals we will be able to help in the future.

Thank you, Glenys, for being a voice for the voiceless, a loyal friend to the animals, and for sharing your life with those who needed a forever home. Love from all of us at Freshfields Animal Rescue.
